Major software upgrade: Thymio Suite
It’s now easier than ever to start to program your robot. The BETA version is available right now and includes Scratch 3.
In order to make life easier for Thymio users, we have developed a suite that includes all the Thymio softwares we maintain (VPL, Scratch, Blockly and Aseba). To avoid confusion between Aseba, the former name of the software package, and Aseba, the programming language, we decided to combine these softwares under a new name: Thymio Suite.
With Thymio Suite everything is easier. Download the latest version of the software, select the programming language you want to use, click on your robot in the list (it appears when you connect it) and then click on the Launch button.
It is no longer necessary to launch the “Thymio web bridge” tool to launch Scratch or Blockly. No need to go to a webpage for Scratch. Everything is now managed from the Thymio Suite.
Update your robot to access the last features
There is a new way to update Thymio’s firmware : connect your robot to your computer with the USB cable, select a programming language in Thymio suite, right-click on the robot you want to update and click on “upgrade firmware”.
Here is a video to learn how to do this.
Rename your robot
You can also give a name to your robot from the connection interface. To do it, select a programming language and double click on the name of your robot on the list that appears (you can also right click on it and select the “rename” option).
Classroom tip : Put a sticker on your robot and rename it on the Thymio Suite interface for a faster identification in the classroom.
The BETA version of Thymio Suite is available right now.
