Program with Scratch

Create interactions between Thymio, Scratch stage and Scratch sprites

Get started

Plug Thymio to the computer with the USB cable or with the USB dongle and turn Thymio on by pressing 3 seconds on the central button

Launch “Thymio Suite”

Click on the Scratch icon

Your first program in a few clicks

Select a Scratch event and choose what you want Thymio to do.
The blocks that interact with Thymio are in the “Thymio” category at the bottom. In this example we put our code in a “forever” loop so Scratch will continuously check if the proximity sensor detects something.

Examples

Front sensors make Thymio change color

Thymio stops at the border of the table

Example of Scratch stage, sprites and Thymio interactions

Thymio makes the sprite move when you tilt it left or right.
If the sprite touches the edge of the stage Thymio will make some noise.

Tip : you can click on a block in the code section to know its value.
For example, tilt Thymio and click on the “Tilt on [left-right]” block to know its value.

Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten group of the MIT Media Lab.
